The WVU Center for Community Engagement is proud to announce that WVU students have logged and verified more than 110,000 hours of community service for 2025-26 — the highest number of documented service hours ever recorded in a single academic year through the Center for Community Engagement.

WVU has once again earned the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, an elective designation that reflects an institution-wide commitment to community engagement through reciprocal partnerships that strengthen learning, research and public impact.

West Virginia University Center for Community Engagement is excited to pilot their new Student Organization Service program, SOS. In collaboration with WVU Student Engagement and Leadership, the goal of this new program is to build lasting connections between WVU student organizations and community partners, strengthening service efforts for years to come.

For the second year in row, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities has named West Virginia University as a regional winner of the 2025 W.K. Kellogg FoundationCommunity Engagement Scholarship.

The West Virginia University Center for Community Engagement held its annual Excellence in Community Engagement Awards ceremony on Thursday, April 24 at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center, to honor the accomplishments in engaged learning and community impact on campus and in the surrounding communities. 

The WVU Center for Community Engagement is working with key partners to determine where support is needed and engage community members to meet the critical needs of our fellow West Virginians (WVU Photo).

West Virginia University is the flagship university for the state and its more than 1.7 million residents. With a focus on the University’s land-grant roots, the newly created Division for Land-Grant Engagement will enhance and strengthen the mission to improve lives and livelihoods of those it serves.
