Ida Holaskova

Director, Office of Statistics and Data Analytics
Research, Evaluation and Compliance

The primary focus of my daily work is the application of rigorous statistical methods to research data generated at West Virginia University (WVU), an R1 institution. I take pride in being a part of the Division of Land-Grant Engagement and the WV Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. Specifically, my work is in three major areas:

  1. Statistical Analyses of Primary Research Data. I manage and serve as the primary consulting statistician to nearly 250 faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers at the Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DCANR), as well as WV Extension and the Center for Community Engagement.
  2. Processing of Research Metadata. A fraction of my service is dedicated to data processing, summary statistics, and interpretation of the division’s research outputs, evaluation of projects and awards, as well as compliance for all three branches of the Division of Land Grant Engagement: Center for Community Engagement, Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and WVU Extension.
  3. Research Workshops and Seminars. An additional responsibility is to organize and assist with division-wide scientific workshops, seminars, professional development, and lunch-and-learn opportunities for the research-engaged employees of the Division of Land-Grant Engagement.

I feel I have the best job in the college because I get to see what goes on in research and get the first peek at the research results. The research data I work on ranges from discoveries in soil, water, grazing land, forests, farms, insects, air quality, small and large animals, agricultural production, energy, microbes, human and animal nutrition and foods, genetics, education, WV communities, often wild and wonderful!

The best way to schedule the data chat is by e-mail.
